Mr. Carley has over 30 years of demonstrated executive leadership in financial and general business operations, as well as operating and growing businesses. His experience in financial management includes oversight of treasury, accounting, audit, tax and internal control. He has directed multiple strategic acquisitions and divestures and raised over $1B in various debt and equity transactions including traditional banking, CMBS, and private equity markets.  His operational experience includes a focus on improving top and bottom line results, installing and monitoring cash flow systems and solutions, incentivizing and inspecting success/failure of line managers, and multiple situations of crisis management.

Dave has predominantly worked in the following industries as CFO:  printing/publishing; hotel and real estate development; apparel; and commercial banking.

His Interlochen Group assignments included:  identifying opportunities and correcting deficiencies in accounting and financial reporting; managing the process for hiring a new controller; advising on ownership transition; improving bank relationships; developing product pricing models and tools; and creating budgets, forecasts and projections where none existed.

 Dave’s significant accomplishments include:

  • CFO of $125M commercial printer for over five years. Instrumental in planning the merger of two facilities in Louisville, KY into one facility Oklahoma City, OK. Subsequently shopped the sale of Oklahoma City facility and sold to NYSE listed company for very attractive valuation. Other than legal support, no outside intermediaries were required.
  • CFO of hotel development/acquisition company for 16 years, developing 20 hotels and acquiring over 130 hotels (multiple brands) in individual, portfolio and public to private transactions. Raised over $20M from individual and institutional investors to develop individual hotels. Structured a “roll-up” entity into which stabilized properties were transitioned and funded with $75M of private equity. Closed $264M CMBS financing and replaced it a year later with a $320M CMBS facility. Consummated $397M purchase of a publicly traded REIT. Oversaw the diligence process on all acquisitions.
  • Concurrent with the development company above, functioned as CFO of the management company overseeing operations of these hotels encompassing at peak, 155 hotels and thousands of employees. Merged public company operation into smaller existing private platform. Developed with key operating management team an incentive program to recognize quality, financial performance, and consistency.
  • Participated as lender and co-developer in four transactions funding grass roots residential real estate developers in development of over 400 residential building lots.

Mr. Carley earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of Georgia. He has served on Board of Directors of several private companies.
